Acute Abdomen Resulting from Concurrent Thrombosis of Celiac Trunk and Superior Mesenteric Artery
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mesenteric ischemia is one of the most mortal diseases of the gastrointestinal system causing acute abdomen. In most of the patients, the etiological factor is the obstructive embolism or thrombosis of superior mesenteric artery. In the literature, there have been reports regarding also celiac trunk occlusion in rare situations. The gold standard treatment relies on early diagnosis. The originality of our report relies on the concurrent obstruction of both vascular structures.

Acute mesenteric ischemia is a life-threatening vascular emergency that requires early diagnosis and intervention to adequately restore mesenteric blood flow and to prevent bowel necrosis and patient death. While, almost always superior and inferior mesenteric arteries are involved, we report a 57-year-old male with an unusual celiac artery trunk thrombosis leading to gastero-duodenal and hepat...

Thrombosis of the celiac artery trunk is a rare cause of acute abdominal pain. Thrombosis of the celiac artery carries a high mortality and morbidity when the diagnoses and treatment are delayed. It is frequently associated with other cardiovascular events. The most common etiology is atherosclerosis. 20-30% of cases may have symptoms of chronic mesenteric ischemia. Main goal of the treatment i...

The gastrointestinal system is mainly supplied by celiac trunk (CelT), superior mesenteric artery (SMA), and inferior mesenteric artery [1]. The celiac trunk is a large arterial vessel of the upper abdomen which arises below the aortic hiatus at the level of T12th the vertebral body. It is divided into three main branches: common hepatic, splenic and left gastric arteries [2]. The SMA arises fr...
متن کاملA rare variant angioarchitecture of upper abdomen
Vascular anomalies are frequently encountered in abdomen. But they are usually asymptomatic and diagnosed accidently during angiography or surgery leading into severe complications. Thus knowledge of angioarchitecture in abdomen, whether normal or variant, is considered prerequisite for successful, uncomplicated surgeries and interventional radiology. This case report describes one of such vary...
